Overcrowded beaches at DeBordieu

Courtesy of a DeBordieu resident, these pictures accurately portray the beach crowds we fight down here....

15 years to clear a rice field??!! Wow...

That's what this video says.....interesting little history video on Georgetown. I want verification on that stat, though. I know it had to be grueling work, but 15 years? That's what she says at the 2:25 mark.

Turtle time

Below are a few pics from the turtle hatching a few days ago on DeBordieu beach. It is one of the great annual events on our beach. Click here to read a great article about sea turtles and DeBordieu's own Betsy Brabson, queen of all things turtle. After finding this article, I abruptly stopped my attempt at writing about the turtles and deferred to the professionals of Southern Living. Enjoy!

Photos, please!

The prime weekend of the year has officially begun here at DeBordieu. Come Monday, there will be literally thousands of great photos from the weekend's activities. We would love to create a "July 4th 2009" photo album for everyone to enjoy. So, if you have some great pics to share from the weekend, please email them to rmoore@debordieu.com .

PS As a family-friendly blog, we can only post those photos that pass our strict editorial review. Any risque' submissions will be solely for the amusement of the editorial board. And the others on the hall here in the office. And a few of our friends on email. Heck, they may even make the blog, on second thought.

Potentially helpful insurance info

Below is an email I received from a local insurance agent regarding homeowners insurance here at the beach. If you would like to get in touch with him for information on your home, just email or call.

Hey guys,

Hope you guys are doing well. I just wanted to let you know that the insurance market for high value homes is still wide open. Most homeowners that are not aware of the independent agent system do business with captive agents that only have one product to offer. Here in Georgetown and Pawleys that product comes with a policy from the SC Wind & Hail Association. This is not where your clients want to be if they can help it. SCWHUA is a last resort because of its high premiums and minimal coverage. We have several companies that are writing policies including wind coverage….even beachfront. We have saved folks in Debordieu thousands of dollars annually on their insurance premium. The insurance market changes constantly. So if any of your current clients mention the insurance on their primary or vacation home please let them know that there is an alternative and I will be glad to help.

Memorial Day themes

A lot of...

Fishin'

Chillin'

Partyin'

All in all, it was great to have that summertime vibe back at DeBordieu (I felt like singing this song out loud a couple of times during the weekend). Living down here, we sometimes take for granted that we live in such a beautiful and fun area. But having everyone back in town, boats in the water, people on the beach, and a lively crowd at the tiki bar, we were quickly reminded of why this place is so special.

Now, we real estate guys couldn't end this without just a brief real estate plug: if you're not already a part of this lifestyle, why miss out any longer?

Attention all golfers!

I just feel compelled to brag on the DeBordieu golf course after walking nine holes yesterday afternoon. It is in perfect shape. Best ever, maybe. For those playing in the Member-Guest tournament this weekend, you are in for a real treat. If you're not playing this weekend, do make a point to play in the next few weeks. They will aerify the greens right after Memorial Day, so the course will remain pristine until then. Enjoy!
